Richard Sandilands
A design, usability and technology specialist, Richard is passionate about the web and the opportunities it offers you and your business.
From simple "brochure" websites through to fully-fledged e-commerce applications, Richard has many years' experience as a freelance web designer and developer. He knows what works and is an unabashed perfectionist.
His approach to web design and development is firmly centered on the user experience. Thus he believes the intended audience of a website is the most important consideration when getting online. Usability is the issue when it comes to designing for the web.
After working as a human-rights lawyer for a few years, Richard was lured away by the bright lights of the emerging internet in the late-1990s. He readily admits that the novelty of the internet, for better or worse, is yet to wear off for him.
Richard has also been running his own IT training company since 2001, teaching everything from web development through to digital photography. He's just as at home in front of a group of people, imparting his experience and knowledge, as he is behind the keyboard, exploring and implementing the technologies that drive the web.
The core skill-set he brings to Lotus Bud Marketing includes proficiency with HTML, CSS and javascript as well as server-side frameworks such as PHP and RubyonRails and associated database skills.
Richard is a staunch advocate of web-standards and chooses to work with open source tools when building for the web.
Richard is based on the NSW north coast where he lives with his wife and two sons.
